I've only worked here 5 months.. My co-worker who has worked here 16 years amazed me yesterday. In a meeting with our Director he tried to tell me that AD is ONLY used to organize users into folders like files in Windows Explorer. He said we have not implemented Group Policy because it's a worthless tool that just breaks your network and causes more problems.. We have over 2500 users at my work.. I am passing around a survey at work to have him demoted to janitor.. |

We can't have any Linux Machines on our network
Submitted by Anonymous on Sun, 07/12/2009 - 10:23.I used to work at a place that was running a data warehouse and reporting using Informix on Linux. It was time to upgrade the machine, so me and two developers spent a few weeks migrating everything to a new Linux machine. We did a bunch of performance improvements... the thing was running like a champ.
Then they promote this sniveling Windows-head to Manager who proclaims that we can't have any Linux machines. He insisted that we move everything to Windows.
After a few months of hell, we migrate everything to SQL server and port the 4GL code to Windows... all the fucking slashes had to be changed and escaped. Ended up slow as shit. It was hell, then I quit.
You have to be in awe of
Submitted by Anonymous on Thu, 07/23/2009 - 01:07.You have to be in awe of those colleagues who think they know anything about computers, when really they only know how to use a GUI and only in Windows. It's even worse when these morons become managers.
ha! This is nothing...
Submitted by Anonymous on Mon, 06/22/2009 - 12:28.I worked at the company as outsource network admin where they had AD and only one user... Administrator! Everyone, even delivery people had admin rights to their domain and extremely vital db (losing that db will put that company out of busines next second) Their admin said "why bother? Administrator works, and regular users can't do their thing" and you say not implemented Group Policy:))
Funny stuff
Submitted by Anonymous on Sun, 06/21/2009 - 23:25.I used to work in IT for this trashy time share resort in A.C. New Jersey. This sounds just like some thing the CIO would say in a meeting or to the owner, this guy was hilarious especially when he would mumble something about the matrix every time one of his SCO servers got all wacky on him. Note: this guy thought every time he would add a user in his outdated SCO server from 1996 that the user would automatically just magically appear in AD on the windows side.
Sheesh.. a bit like those
Submitted by jdinteractive (not verified) on Wed, 03/25/2009 - 16:49.Sheesh.. a bit like those "IT Managers" that earn 10 times as much as I do and can't fathom the simple difference between a toaster and a PC. Organize users into folders... rofl
Check his desk (work/home)

Ignorance
Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Tue, 03/24/2009 - 17:02.Apple or Linux sticker? Huh?
I've got Macs, PCs, and Linux boxes all using single sign on with a Stornext SAN. My personal computer is an Apple. My day job is integrating Macs with AD and sharing resources between Windows and OS X. We do it all day long, and do it very well.
Ignorance = thinking that one OS is the final solution for everything.
If u know linux well enough....
Submitted by Anonymous on Fri, 06/05/2009 - 17:57.If u know linux well enough it can be the solution. But Microsoft puts a lot of money into making "Business" apps and even more on Marketing them.
This 16 year veteran
Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Fri, 10/17/2008 - 11:23.This 16 year veteran co-worker sounds like a Genius to me. Telling people who don't know any better that something is junk. What that means is instead of taking a few hours to configure group policy (if that long) he can surf the web a bit more often and download cool videos :)
I understand where you are coming from, but look at it form his point of view. Why do actual work when you can get paid to F around.
wow... that is the craziest
Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Fri, 10/10/2008 - 01:00.wow... that is the craziest thing i heard in my life... what is his title?
Yeah, group policy only does
Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Thu, 10/23/2008 - 23:04.Yeah, group policy only does damage if you have no idea what the fuck you are doing and pushed it to production. He can create a test network from a few machines in the back and fuck it up all day long learning.
sounds about normal
